Job Description:
Our Global Support Center/ Corporate Office is located in the
Energy Corridor- off I10 and N Eldridge. Address: 1390 Enclave
Pkwy, Houston, TX 77077 Hybrid Role: In-office Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday. Work from home on Thursday and Friday. As Senior
Manager, Food Systems Resilience, you will be a strategic leader
within the global sustainability team, responsible for
strengthening the adaptability and resilience of our food systems
across the value chain. You will lead supply chain risk
assessments, drive Scopes 1 and 2 sustainability strategies,
identify and scale Scope 3 reduction approaches, and develop
long-term, customer-centered solutions for value chain
transformation and systems change. The candidate will be expected
to be a strategic leader who can develop a list of levers and
prioritize based on impact, investment, cost savings for the
organization and other dimensions. Likely focus areas will be on
high emissions categories including beef, dairy, proteins and
transportation. They will need to define and operationalize food
system resilience at Sysco as the ability to anticipate, withstand,
and adapt to disruptions across our value chain. This includes
ensuring supply continuity for key commodities, advancing
regenerative and sustainable agricultural practices, mitigating
packaging and waste risks, and strengthening supplier/customer
partnerships to build long-term stability. In this role, you will
work cross-functionally and across all levels of the organization
to see out into the future when it comes to sustainability risks
and opportunities. You will be responsible for building strong
relationships across internal and external stakeholders—including
suppliers, NGOs & industry groups/coalitions, and industry peers—to
drive initiatives, share insights, and promote systems thinking.
Climate Action Lead comprehensive commodity risk assessments to
identify potential risks and mitigation strategies to ensure
continuity and resilience. Assess, pilot, and implement advanced
digital tools and data platforms to help Sysco anticipate and
prepare for longer-term supply chain shifts—such as climate change,
geopolitical developments, and resource constraints. Provide
actionable insights to leadership and field teams to strengthen
business continuity and resilience. Oversee the development,
implementation, and monitoring of Scopes 1 and 2 sustainability
strategies, aligning with global standards and company goals for
carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and resource stewardship.
Enables governance process for oversight and approval of strategic
investments to decarbonize and drive resilience throughout our
value chain Engage with operations and sourcing teams to implement
decarbonization initiatives in our direct operations and achieve
our greenhouse gas goals. Provide regular reporting on
decarbonization activities, status, and progress against company
goals. Develop and scale Sysco’s strategy for helping foodservice
customers increase resilience by reducing waste across food,
energy, and inputs, and by identifying valorization opportunities.
This includes exploring innovations such as sustainability scoring,
digital menu optimization, and kitchen efficiency tools to drive
customer value and environmental impact. Customer Solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to
design and scale innovative solutions that reinforce food system
resilience, drive value chain transformation, and deliver
sustainable outcomes for customers and communities. Lead pilot
programs to test and iterate new solutions, including analyzing
results and developing go-forward recommendations. Engage with key
customers to understand future needs, co-create tailored solutions,
and embed resilience into long-term commercial offerings. Thought
Leadership Stay informed about global food system trends,
regulatory changes, and emerging risks, contributing expertise to
the sustainability team through research, presentations, and
industry engagement. Identify opportunities for strategic
partnerships and/or investments to accelerate change in food
resilience, sustainability and value creation for Sysco and our
stakeholders. Digital and Data Enablement Leverage Sysco’s
sustainability data platforms (e.g., SEED, emissions modeling tools
including HowGood and CO2.AI) for reporting and insights. Use
digital tools to track commodity risk, model emissions scenarios,
and provide customers and leadership with clear, actionable data on
Sysco’s progress toward decarbonization and resilience goals.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental
Science, or related field such as a culinary arts degree
Experience: 7 years professional experience in sustainability,
supply chain management, risk assessment, or related fields within
the food sector or similar industries. Experience Preferred
Preferred – Foodservice, Retail, CPG, agriculture or other food
related experience Preferred – Sustainability, food systems, supply
chain, or a related discipline. Proven experience developing and
executing decarbonization and/or resilience strategies at scale,
including presenting recommendations for senior leadership and
governance forums. Strong knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting,
Scope 1–3 reduction approaches, and systems-change strategies.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and
building consensus across complex organizations. Excellent
communication, analytical, and project management skills, with the
ability to translate technical insights into business-relevant
