Job Description:
Duration: 11 Months (Possibilities of Contract Extension) The
BEO Formwork Field Technician will play a key role in the setup,
maintenance, and troubleshooting of formwork and shoring systems on
construction sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on
experience with formwork installation, specifically with Doka
systems, an understanding of structural concrete, and the ability
to read technical drawings and blueprints. This position requires a
proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills, especially
on bespoke, atypical, and complex problems, with a particular
emphasis and commitment to safety and efficiency. Job
Responsibilities: Input to project estimating teams when developing
the means, methods, and equipment scope. Assist BEO civil engineers
with constructability of proposed designs. On-site training of
BEO’s formwork systems. Assessment of projects’ formwork handling,
maintenance, and repair programmes. Develop and enhance formwork
installation methodology to improve installation rates and
productivity. Discover and assess innovations that may be
beneficial to Client projects. Identify innovative accessories and
assist the technical team at Doka in the viability, testing, and
development of said innovations. Design formwork. Support the team
with the production of formwork drawings. Establish inspection
criteria for installed formwork. Ensure a safe work environment.
Participate in training/certifications. Conduct frequent site
visits to assist, guide, and provide technical instruction where
needed to Client supervision and craft professionals. Serve as the
main point of contact for formwork. Familiarize with industry
formwork systems means and methods. Skills: Working knowledge of
structural construction operations, formwork installation, and
concrete installation. Technical knowledge of industry formwork and
shoring systems and solutions. Knowledge of construction
technologies. Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field
activities. Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety, and Health
(ES&H) with a commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
Qualification: Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or
international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or
9-12 years of relevant work experience. Intermediate knowledge of
supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
Preferably with prior experience in roadway construction, mass
grading elements, and slip-form paving activities. Intermediate
understanding of production management, including scheduling. Sound
communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Extensive
experience in civil construction on large projects in various types
of construction work (infrastructure; mining and metals; nuclear,
security and environment; and oil, gas, and chemicals). Previous
supervisory experience within the civil discipline. ASBI, ACI,
SAIA, and/or PTI participation/membership. Extensive knowledge in
vertical wall pouring using shutter forms. Extensive knowledge in
the installation of embeds with minimal tolerances. Background in
post-tensioning duct work and knowledge of post-tensioning. Must be
able to coordinate with other disciplines to minimize schedule
impact. Additional qualifications include direct hire mass
excavation and backfill, shallow soil stabilization and soil
solidification, stockpile management and onsite trucking management
experience, wick drain installation, marine experience, and piling
experience.
