NURSE MANAGER - NEUROSENSORY PRE-OP/PACU Location: United States - Texas - Houston DESCRIPTION Industry: Healthcare / Health Services - Nursing / LPNs / LVNs Job Category: Medical / Health - Nurse Leadership The Nursing Manager is a registered nurse who has 24-hour comprehensive operational responsibility for the delivery and quality of patient care provided in the designated areas(s) of responsibility. The manager assists with developing and implementing performance initiatives to ensure optimal patient safety and outcomes and customer satisfaction. Demonstrates leadership qualities and critical thinking through self-direction, initiative, effective interpersonal skills and oral/written communications skills. Fosters interdepartmental/interdisciplinary collaboration. Participates in committees, representing unit and Nursing in a positive manner. Services: Vascular Access Surgery, Bronchoscopy, and Endoscopy This unit receives patients from an AV OR and Endoscopy Suite. AV Access Surgery provides the surgical and diagnostic interventions that are a hemodialysis patients lifeline. Endoscopy keeps diagnoses and treats digestive disease. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Must have Pre-Op/PACU/ICU experience (minimum of 2 years) - preferably in a charge nurse or management role (candidates with less than 2 years of these types of experience will not be considered) Employment experience must demonstrate previous leadership and or management Experience in a large/high volume PACU required EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Degree in Nursing, Bachelors or Masters required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED Texas RN license or temporary TX RN license, should obtain permanent license within 90 days. Compact license acceptable according to current Board of Nursing requirements. Magnet recognized certification within 6 months of eligibility. Magnet recognized leadership certification within 6 months of eligibility. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
