Job SummaryResponsible for identifying and securing business opportunities with new and existing customers by building long-term relationships with key decision makers. The Business Development Manager will generate business opportunities that increase revenues, profits and broaden the business base of BMWC Constructors' Gulf Coast Operations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining relationships with current customers, decision makers, industry organizations, and promoting BMWC brand identity.Business Development * Evaluate new business opportunities in terms of profit potential, competitive situation, geographic location, our credentials and acceptance, potential for repeat business and our ability to perform the needed work* Generate relationships with new customers in targeted industries and markets using customer visits and calls, networking, market research, etc. and communicate information with BMWC leadership to establish priorities* Target, pursue, nurture and close on opportunities consistent with stated corporate sales and marketing plans* Demonstrate a complete knowledge of the company, its values and growth philosophy as well as the industrial construction industry specific to the Gulf Coast region.* Play leadership role in proposal development & in-person client presentations process working closely with the pre-construction and construction departments* Follow-up and record feedback on lost business opportunities* Host and manage regional Business Development meetings with updates on current proposals and future potential opportunities* Utilize technology (internal and external) to perform market research and keep current on the latest industry developments* Maintain & share files on news articles, annual reports and related industry information that affects business opportunitiesRelationship Management* Develop and maintain relationships with senior level managers at key potential and current BMWC customer accounts* Ensure customer awareness of our entire service offering to build business organically* Assist in training project management staff in how to educate their customers and appropriate sales techniques* Participate in monitoring customer satisfaction (client surveys) and ensure customer retention* When appropriate, obtain letters of commendation from existing customers recognizing key elements of our services* Participate in customer entertainment through golf outings, luncheons and dinners, sporting events, industry events, etc.* Participate in industry associations, trade shows, conferences, and seminars to promote BMWC's industry presence, to keep current on industry trends/issues and to network with current and potential customers* Develop relationships with internal department personnel and utilize their expertise as appropriate on prospective customer calls and presentationsMarketing* Ensure the protection, enrichment and promotion of BMWC's corporate brand identity* Work closely with Marketing Department to create literature to be utilized with customer relationships* Work closely with the Marketing Department to assist with customer presentations* Complete new client pre-qualifications thoroughly, accurately and persuasivelyInterpersonal Contacts* This position has regular contact with all levels of internal office and external field staff, Operations & Executive Leadership Teams and third-party partners. This position also has regular contact with company clients and vendors. This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Sales.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesQualifications Required:* Minimum 5 years of quantifiable, sales & client development in the industrial construction industry* Outstanding written, verbal, presentation and listening communication skills* Direct experience with sales and relationship development in the Gulf Coast Region.* Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams* Experience in developing proposals and presenting to clientsDesired Characteristics* Financial budgeting including understanding of profit & loss statementsEducation* Bachelor's degree preferred within a major related to either a.) Business, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Communications or Organizational Behavior, or a major in b.) Construction/Engineering with documented success in Business Development, Sales or Marketing.Other* Communicate, through the appropriate channels, any observations of noncompliance with the Guiding Principles and Core Values of BMWC and/or other violations of policy or illegal actions that place personnel and the company at risk.
