The Precision Assembler (PA) in a pump service
center is responsible for disassembly, repair and assembly of pumps
and decoking equipment. The PA follows instructions from the
shop lead and provides documentation to perform DCI (Disassemble,
Clean and Inspect) and creates written description of the wear and
condition of critical components. The Assembler uses
precision inspection equipment to measure dimensions of pump
components and assemblies. He/she ensures that all forms and
documentation (including visual records) are complete before
forwarding the package to the production planner for quotation. The
PA uses procedures and craftsmanship to assemble pumps, and
completes all assembly documentation. The PA then paints,
installs tagging and preps the pump for shipment to the customer.
This position reports to the Production Supervisor at our
Pasadena, TX, pump repair Quick Response Center (QRC). This
position is for weekend shift (Sunday thru Wednesday), working
6am - 4:30pm, plus overtime on same shift as required.
PA duties include, but not limited to:
Working safely and helping colleagues work
Complying with all Flowserve policies and
Following instructions given in pre-job briefings
and completing DCI and assembly checklists.
Cleaning each part to be reused, and documenting the
condition of components.
Using hand torches and liquid nitrogen when
appropriate in the teardown process Inspecting components and
assemblies accurately and precisely, and clearly recording the
results of these inspections. This includes fits, clearances
Taking pictures to document condition and
Communicating clearly and professionally with
production planners and customers to discuss the component and pump
Following all routers and assembly
Inspect all components for critical fits and
run-outs, and record results on the appropriate assembly form.
Paint, tag, and prep the pump prior to shipment to the
Coordinate and interface with sales, operations,
engineers, and customers as necessary.
Exhibiting behavior that encourages team-building,

- High school diploma or
- 5+ years of experience as a
- Must have personal set of
mechanic’s tools, micrometers and roll-around tool
- Able to stand for long
periods and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work overtime
hours including weekends and holidays.
- Forklift and overhead crane
certifications, using forklifts and cranes.
