Manages scheduling, job cost estimating of seal repair, gasket manufacturing and the repair of other industrial products. Involved in all aspects of the coordination and processing of customer orders from receipt to shipment. Develops cost, pricing and delivery for repair products and services. Acts as a liaison between all other support functions, i.e., Purchasing, Planning, Sales, CST and Quality Control. Reviews customer orders for accuracy, technical information and customer specific requirements. Edits/updates Bills of Materials and Routings as needed to process orders. Establishes priorities to ensure attention to customer satisfaction and corporate objectives. Responsible for Service Center budget. Manages, provides direction to and sets performance standards for employees at various levels. This is a working supervisory position.Job Model:-- On-SiteAll fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense.--Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.--On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.--Responsibility-----Works closely with the Manager of Center and Retail Operations to set business objectives that support the Company and Service Center strategic and business plans.-----Directs, coordinates and participates in the efficient and effective operations. Formulates policies and procedures. Establishes work priorities. Delegates work. Appraises employee performance. Facilitates employee development efforts.-----Supervises the operation of the repair center. Will perform product repair as required. Determines staff, material, and supplies required to meet schedules. Monitors and controls production schedules.-----Assists the operations Manager on budgeting details. Proposes expenditures of Company monies. Initiates justification for the approval of equipment and machinery purchases. Adheres to specific financial targets. Assists with the controls of specific financial measures, such as, gross margins, gross profit and net profit. Investigates and implements various process improvements and cost-reduction efforts.-----Meets production deadlines. Establishes production and quality control standards. Makes recommendations regarding improved operations.-----Performs field support functions when required including troubleshooting and equipment measurements, as well as face to face customer business meetings.-----Maintains safe working environment by enforcing safety procedures and provides for proper housekeeping in all work areas.-----Ensures quality procedures are implemented and that activities in the manufacturing area are performed according to quality standard and procedures.-----Monitors and maintains human capital effectiveness including performance management and progressive discipline processes.-----Identifies employee training needs and coordinates proper training. Develops training plans; monitors training records.-----Authorizes the transfer and disposal of Hazardous Waste resulting from processes within the work area.-----Keeps employees informed of all pertinent information as directed by management.-----Performs multiple direct labor/value added tasks within the work area as required. These tasks include: operating various machinery, hand and power tools; mechanical assembly functions; test functions; material handling; sand blasting; gasket cutting, other manufacturing floor functions including the shipping and receiving of products for both the Repair Center and the Retail Office.-----Monitors work conditions and methods to ensure safe operations. Operates in compliance, through Federal and other regulations, in areas including environment, safety, health and transportation. Promotes environmentally-safe work practices. Ensures compliance with Chesterton Quality standards and Company policies and procedures.-----Maintains clear, informal communications. Interprets and communicates policies, procedures and other vital information employees. Prepare reports and make formal presentations to top management.--Complexity of Duties-----Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational and divisional goals and Company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizational/divisional objectives and/or schedules.-----Manages staff members to help meet established schedules and resolve technical/operational problems.-----Sets performance standards and manages employee performance.-----Submits and administers budget schedules.-----Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and funds and potentially jeopardize future business activity.-----Contacts are frequent with inter-organizational managers, field sales managers, and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications.-----Works independently and as a team player.-----Provides direction to the area using established procedures.-----Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall quality and efficiency.-----Works closely with management. Requires the ability to work as a team player to solve complex problems and make decisions that affect the Service Center.-----Ability to work in an uncomfortable environment, i.e., exposure to noise and variable temperatures.-----Ability to work under pressure, make unpopular decisions and manage multiple issues of varying complexity simultaneously.--Essential SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.-----Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment including mechanical seals, pump systems, packing, bearings and related elements.-----Strong knowledge of rotating equipment installation including precision alignment techniques.-----Ability to collect and analyze pump performance data.-----Knowledge of industries utilizing Chesterton products and services.-----Advanced written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.-----Highly skilled in customer interface and communications.-----Demonstrated ability to manage people, develop people and projects.-----Thorough understanding of manufacturing, business, and budgeting processes.-----Mechanical seal design knowledge desired.-----Advanced problem-solving, decision-making and planning abilities.-----Ability to supervise others and to manage and evaluate performance effectively and objectively.-----Thorough understanding of machine shop/manufacturing environment.-----Ability to perform various manufacturing functions requiring manual dexterity and lifting abilities.-----Ability to operate hand/power tools and machinery.--Education and/or Experience-----Some College Education Preferred. High School or Trade School required.-----5-7 years experience in mechanical seal application and/or pump repair preferred-----5-7 years of demonstrated experience in field service.-----Thorough knowledge of the repair process, operating policies, practices and procedures.--Other Skill and Abilities-----Thorough understanding of inventory principles and computerized business systems.-----Ability to work under frequently changing priorities and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.-----Strong interpersonal and communication skills.-----Ability to direct the work of others and manage day to day employee issues.-----Strong problem solving and decision making skills.--Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
