To learn more, click here. ondellBasell Basic Function The Sr. Environmental Specialist will be responsible for championing GoalZERO behaviors across all employees and contract personnel at the site and driving continuous Environmental improvement. This position will also be responsible for driving environmental compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. These activities will require communication with a diverse group of customers, including engineering, operations, maintenance, plant management, and outside regulatory agencies. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support Environmental programs (emergency response, waste handling, stormwater program, potable water sampling, TCEQ and EPA compliance, etc.)
  • Participate in and lead Environmental teams (employee teams, environmental team, etc.)
  • Maintain ownership of assigned site environmental programs/systems.
  • Understand base environmental concepts, regulations, and standards and act as a champion for improvement and compliance.
  • Perform required waste water sampling.
  • Monitor site environmental performance and track progress.
  • Manage waste, water, and remediation coordination for site.
  • Maintain waste and water certifications and licenses.
  • Prepare related environmental regulatory reports for submittal.
  • Assure compliance with Federal, State, and Local waste and stormwater environmental rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for manifest review and input into EMIS waste module, manifest return reconciliation, and monthly EMIS/manifest verification.
  • Prepare external and internal waste reports including but not limited to TX Annual Waste Summary, TX Pollution Prevention (P2), Notice of Registration (NOR) updates, Generator Fees, Monthly Waste Accrual Reports, and other required STEERS input.
  • Review and recordkeeping of hazardous waste tank inspection logs.
  • Create purchase requisitions in SAP, and review invoices for approval.
  • Support logistics for hazardous and non-hazardous transportation that include waste sampling and analysis/recertification, profiling, manifesting, and waste invoicing.
  • Develop and/or review and update waste management procedures and guidelines in accordance with requirements.
  • Provide training of plant personnel.
  • Collaborate with environmental engineer to identify potential cost reductions and program improvements.
  • Provide plant support for waste related spill response and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel on changes that could impact waste and stormwater operations, regulatory requirements, program management, etc.
  • Support oversight of day-to-day operations of in-plant waste contractors.
  • Support and work turnaround activities. Min. Qualifications --- High School diploma/GED --- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis. --- Minimum 3 - 6 years of experience in at least any 3 of the following Environmental Protection, Compliance & Sustainability Areas: o Regulated Medical Waste Management o Pharmaceutical Waste Management o Radioactive Waste Management o Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) & Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasures (SPCC) Compliance - TCEQ & EPA o Hazardous Waste Management o Stormwater & Wastewater Compliance - City of Houston, TCEQ & EPA o Environmental Sustainability & Recycling Program Education & Awareness o Solid Waste & Recycling Services Operations & Management o Public Water Systems/Drinking Water Compliance - City of Houston, TCEQ & EPA o Experience using the TCEQ's State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System (STEERS) Competencies Builds effective teams Collaborates Cultivates innovation Customer focus Demonstrates courage Drives results Ensures accountability Instills trust and exemplifies integrity Must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally authorized to work in the United States (US) on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
