Job Description:
Supervisor, Child Center - Central CampusPRIMARY FUNCTION: This
position is an integral part of the management team and responsible
for assisting the Director in the daily operations and overall
management of the Lab School
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain operational status in accordance with all regulatory
agencies in the absence of the director. Make sound decision and
handling crisis situations that supports the excellence of the
program.
- Support a developmentally appropriate curriculum through
mentoring, training and coaching teachers
- Work as a team member to help coordinate the daily operation of
the Lab School to meet all local, state and national licensing and
accreditation standards. Develop staffing patterns and model best
practices for staff, students and interns.
- Maintaining effective communication with all personnel that
includes parents and community members.
- Coordinates observations, student practicum activities,
policies and enrollment procedures.
- Confer with parents, staff and students regarding facility,
activities, policies and enrollment procedures.
- Mentor teaching staff regarding children's behavioral or
learning challenges and recommends method of modifying
inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences.
Substitute in classroom in the absence of teachers
- Arrange medical attention for ill or injured child in
accordance with state licensing and national accreditation
standards.
- Obtain a minimum of 30 clock hours of training each calendar
year. Attend meetings and activities as designated by
college/supervisor. Complete yearly evaluation aligned with college
performance management system and be actively involved in the
campus and community. Practices the values and mission of the
college.
- Perform general clerical duties that include scheduling events,
guest speakers & activities, typing correspondence, spreadsheets
newsletter and monthly calendar and menus
- Provide Lab School tours to prospective families. Assist in
enrollment and recruitment activities
- Maintain financial systems that include but are not limited to
requisitions, budgets, child care manager, market place and budget
reports Additional Job Functions:
- Verify visitors, students and observers. Process background
checks and maintain current background checklist
- Model appropriate behaviors for staff, families volunteers
students & children by following the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
Mentor teachers/ Lab students according to the NAEYC criteria and
standards.
- Assist in selecting and justifying ordering supplies and
materials. Maintain inventory and purchase supplies abiding by
college policies and procedures
- Attend required training to become familiar with college
operating system Banner. Input child and family information into
Childcare manager and manage weekly reports, summaries and
statements. Collect, compile and verify time submitted by fulltime
and part-time staff for payroll Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of the NAEYC accreditation process
- Must have knowledge of the Texas Department of Family and
Protective Services minimum standards
- Must have intermediate user level skills in MS Office - Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook software
- Must have intermediate user level skills with Accounting/
Billing Software experience
- Self- motivated with excellent customer service and public
relation skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple
priorities with little supervision
- Must be team -oriented with the ability to work well with other
staff and faculty members from across the three campuses and the
district offices
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills
- Must be able to work within the hours of the Lab School
Operation
Required Education:
- Associates in Child Development or related field with 6 hours
of business administration
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related
field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three years working with young children ages 6 weeks
- 5 years of age. A minimum of two years in a supervisory position
in a child- care setting
Preferred Experience:
- One year experience mentoring and training teachers
- Marketplace, Banner and Childcare Manger Software experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- Finger print clearance through Texas Department of Protective
Family Services
- TB clearance required every two years
- First aid/ CPR (Pediatric Infant, Child and Adult)
- Food Handlers License
- Notarized licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
- Texas Childcare Administrator Credential Note: The duties of
this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site
work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or
no opportunity for remote work arrangements. Salary Grade: 17Salary
is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current
