role is to support the Site Quality Manager in the development and
implementation of all quality related procedures and processes at
the site level; to improve project quality by recommending correct
construction methods to subcontractors and company personnel prior
to installation; identify substandard work; provide inspection
support; turnover package maintenance and remedy corrective action
during construction. The person in this role ensures that all
products and services meet requirements through being an integral
part of the construction process. Specific job responsibilities and
assignments will be assigned and directed by supervisor.What you
will ExperienceAs a Site Quality Inspector, you will:* Participate
in safety meetings.* Follow all safety related procedures and
rules.* Reports and stops work on all unsafe conditions and acts.*
Perform Safety observations and report findings to Safety staff.*
Reviews applicable plans and drawings has copies as needed during
inspections.* Reviews and understands requirements of customer
specifications and knows where to find them.* Knows the material of
construction requirements for the inspected items.* Understand the
governing construction code for items being inspected.* Understands
NDE requirements and where they are found.* Understands which
welding procedures are to be used for the various applications
(welding procedures are available on the BMWC Pipeline, our
intranet site.)* Understands the Inspection and test plan
requirements applicable to the work scope and can communicate the
witness and hold points to the foremen.* Keeps in good
communications with the foremen in the area or project that he is
assigned to and keeps up with inspections and documentation of the
welds as they are completed.* Notifies supervisor if having trouble
keeping up on inspections or is having problems with communicating
with the foremen.* Ensures that the WPS's are being adhered to by
performing in process inspections, by monitoring the welders on WPS
variables, reporting any deficiencies to foremen and to your
supervisor.* Ensures that the welders are qualified for the welding
being performed:* WPQ's are on BMWC pipeline* Project qualified
welder log* Continuity reports are available upon request* Inspects
the welds for all discontinuities when access allows inspect the
weld root internally. Checks code for acceptable value limits.* If
the weld is acceptable uses an appropriate marker and writes "VT OK
initial and date" adjacent to the weld (do not apply markings on
weld). If it is rejectable mark problem areas and report the issue
to the foreman.* Checks for any temporary attachments that may have
been welded.--If found identify the areas for any required NDE.*
Each weld is to be assigned a number on the isometric drawing.
Number the welds per project requirements. Once the weld numbers
are assigned the drawing is known as the weld map. The weld map is
then used to create weld logs or daily weld reports.* Documents the
inspections on the weld logs or daily weld reports. This
documentation is to be neat and concise.* Maintains the up to date
weld maps and weld logs. (Either in paper or electronic form).
These forms are to be complete, legible, properly signed off and
filed to be easily retrievable and available for inclusion in
turnover packages or as per your supervisor's instructions.*
Responsible regarding NDE/PWHT;* Responsible to ensure that all
required NDE/PWHT for the welds within the area/project have been
performed as required* Monitors and maintains welders NDE
percentage requirements.* Monitors welds requiring NDE/PWHT to be
performed.* Flags the weld with appropriate ribbon/tagging.* Fills
out and forward the appropriate request form.* Ensures that reports
obtained from the performing NDE technician are correct and
complete.* Promptly files NDE/PWHT reports in turnover package and
completed NDE/PWHT binder or per supervisor's instructions.*
Performs Hydro-test and Turnover Package maintenance- Collect and
prepare all inspection and testing documentation for inclusion into
the turnover package at the completion of work scope. The project
construction scope may be packaged by system, by hydro-test, by job
note, or as determined or mutually agreed upon by Client. Each
turnover package will contain all field inspection and testing
records for the components within the package scope boundaries;*
Ensures that actual hydro test boundaries are as identified per
project requirements, this may include;* The identified boundaries
on the P&ID and applicable isometric drawings.* The Identified
boundaries on the hydro-test form.* Selects the appropriate
inspection forms to be included in the package.* Examines the
piping within the hydro-test boundaries by walk-down prior to
hydro-testing and be satisfied that it conforms to all of the
applicable examination requirements of the construction code and
project specifications and that it is per the engineering design
and drawings. The BMWC form MCF-31 (pre-test checklist) found on
BMWC Pipeline may be utilized during the walk-down. Other project
specific forms may also be used;* Utilize project specific punch
lists forms or form (BMWC MCF-8) to identify any incomplete items
of work and/or errors in the installation. Present punch list to
supervision and follow up when informed of item completion.* Once
the piping is acceptable to hydro test and all required NDE is
performed and cleared sign off on the hydro test form to release
for test.* Obtains a hydro-test release signature from client or
contract manager if applicable.* Responsible for the witnessing of
the hydro-tests.* Provide notice if required to others that will be
witnessing the test.* When informed that the hydrostatic test is
pressurized walk-down the piping checks each weld and mechanical
joint for leaks, ensuring that proper gauge and test equipment is
in place, test is within required temperature and pressure range
and that the test pressure is not dropping. Ensures that other
witnesses are satisfied with the test. If test results are
satisfactory allow the piping to be drained until verification that
the pressure test gauge zeros. Signs the hydro-test form.* Verifies
that all reinstatement items that are to be completed after the
hydro-test such as test blind removal and instrument installations
are complete.* If hydro-testing is not required perform a similar
piping walk-down and document the examination on the project
specific form/s.* If turnover scheduling requires that turnover
take place prior to all elements being completed then any remaining
elements within contract documents will be documented and
appropriately categorized 1-3 on a final punch list record. An
authorized Client representative shall determine the category where
the category cannot be determined by BMWC.* The Inspector is
responsible to compile all the appropriate documents into the
turnover package as the work progresses and perform a review of the
package. Form BMWC AWF-22 may be utilized for this
purpose.Requirements and Qualifications* Minimum of 2 years
professional experience with piping inspection* Certified Welding
Inspector with AWS or similar* Knowledge of ASME codes and
applications* Has administered weld tests, as required* Strong
service orientation, outstanding organizational skills,
flexibility, and professionalism* Effective time management, strong
detail orientation and accuracy* Ability to work productively with
a diverse team* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in
a constantly changing environment* Proficiency with Microsoft
Office; Excel, WORD, Outlook, and technical aptitude to learn new
systemsEducation* High School diploma required, post-secondary
preferredWorking ConditionsThe working conditions and physical
requirements described here are representative of those that must
be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential
functions of this position.Must work a minimum of 40 hours weekly
during office hours per project requirements.Employees are expected
to have, utilize, maintain, and wear all Personal Protective
